Kibale Forest National Park Chimpanzee Experience

 

Kibale National Park is a national park in Western Uganda, protecting moist evergreen rain forest. It is 766 square kilometres in size and is located between 1,100 metres to 1,600 metres in elevation.

Begin exploring the wonders of this fascinating region of Africa with our top attraction – the Chimpanzee Safari in Kibale National Park. Deep in the evergreen rainforest of Kibale, you will come face to face with man’s closest living relative. Kibale forest is the best place in the world to see Chimpanzees in the wild. The forest is frequently used by documentary film-makers, including the great Attenborough. With the highest density of Chimpanzees in the world, and with 13 other rare primates, the enormous Kibale forest is a world treasure. It is advisable that you book your travel as soon as you identify your travel dates on your calendar, since there is sometimes scarcity in Chimp permits.

Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari Experience

​

Queen Elizabeth National Park is understandably Uganda’s most popular tourist destination. The park’s diverse ecosystems, which include sprawling savanna, shady, humid forests, sparkling lakes and fertile wetlands, make it the ideal habitat for classic big game, ten primate species including chimpanzees and over 600 species of birds. Set against the backdrop of the serrated Rwenzori Mountains, the park’s magnificent panoramas include dozens of enormous craters carved dramatically into rolling green hills, panoramic views of the Kazinga Channel with its banks lined with hippos, buffalo and elephants, and the endless Ishasha plains, whose fig trees hide lions ready to pounce on herds of unsuspecting Uganda kob. As well as its outstanding wildlife attractions, Queen Elizabeth National Park has a fascinating cultural history. There are many opportunities for visitors to meet the local communities and enjoy storytelling, dance, music and more. The gazetting of the park has ensured the conservation of its ecosystems, which in turn benefits the surrounding communities. Uganda’s Queen Elizabeth National Park is truly an Assortment of Wonders! Size: 1,978km². Queen Elizabeth spans the equator line; monuments on either side of the road mark the exact spot where it crosses latitude 00. The park was founded in 1952 as Kazinga National Park, and renamed two years later to commemorate a visit by Queen Elizabeth II.The park is home to over 95 mammal species and over 600 bird species. The Katwe explosion craters mark the park’s highest point at 1,350m above sea level, while the lowest point is at 910m, at Lake Edward.

Social Innovation Academy / Museum & Community Experience

 

The social innovation  academy or museum is a cost-effective and self-governed community approach which is providing a pathway, tools and the mindset for marginalized youth and refugees to shape a vision for their future and create new solutions in form of social enterprises with benefit to society and the environment., during the experience, you will share more with the innovators, community based projects , and as you wish, you can join the daily activities of any project that interest you. from water projects,  bottle construction to women empowerment the list is endless and you will also share the  lunch break at the museum with the community members. In the afternoon, continuation to the different projects and have a time with the community members to share experiences.

later in the afternoon you can engage in the sports activities with the community members or have an evening walk around the villages if you are not interested in visiting the community market.

Evenings are more related with a camp fire as you sip on your favorite Ugandan cold beers and beverages before you go to bed.

 

                               Safari Experience Day-By-Day

​

Day One: You will be welcomed at the Airport and taken to your Hotel in Entebbe/Kampala by our local Uganda Safaris expert. The selection of city for accommodation will depend on your flight arrival time at Entebbe International Airport.

Day Two: You will be picked by our driver from your Hotel/Residence in Entebbe/Kampala and Depart from Kampala/Entebbe at 08:00am after breakfast and you will proceed to Kibale National Park. This is a national park in Southern Uganda, protecting moist evergreen rain forest. It is 766 square kilometres in size and is located between 1,100 metres to 1,600 metres in elevation. You will have lunch in Fort Portal town, close to Kibale National Park. The afternoon will be for relaxation at the Hotel.

Day Three: 7:30am Begin exploring the wonders of this fascinating region of Africa with our top attraction – the Chimpanzee Safari in Kibale National Park. Deep in the evergreen rainforest of Kibale, you will come face to face with man’s closest living relative. Kibale forest is the best place in the world to see Chimpanzees in the wild. 02:00pm we set off after lunch to Queen Elizabeth National Park Via Kasese Town and the Equator Crossing. Lunch will be served at the Safari Lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The evening shall be for relaxation at the Safari Lodge.

Day Four: We will go for 06:00am morning game drive which normally takes 3 hours and we shall come back for late breakfast at 10:00am in the lodge. After lunch we shall proceed for the afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which will take us closer to the animals and birds. The shores of this channel draw a large number of wild animals, birds in addition to reptiles all through the year, with one of the largest population of hippos in the whole world as well as plentiful Nile crocodiles. These animals can be seen well on a boat cruise down the course of the channel or most likely at the entrance of the spectacular Lake Edward. The Boat Cruise on the Kazinga Channel is extremely rewarding and among the finest and most liked launches trips in the country. Afterward the cruise we shall have a relaxing afternoon at the Safari Lodge.

Day Five: After breakfast we shall drive to Kampala/Entebbe Via Mbarara Town where you will have lunch at the Igongo Cultural center. You will also have an opportunity to tour the Cultural Museum at Igongo and have Photo moments at the Equator on the way to Kampala. Overnight accommodation will be in eco-friendly social project in Mpigi at the social innovation academy and museum or it equivalent for a community engagement and diving deep in the social, cultural and enterprenual eco-system of Uganda.

Day six: Behind breakfast, you will kick of your social innovation experience. Expect to share more with the innovators, community based projects , and as you wish, you can join the daily activities of any project that interest you. from water projects, Agro-forestry,  bottle construction to women empowerment the list is endless and you will also share the  lunch break at the museum with the community members. In the afternoon, continuation to the different projects and have a time with the community members to share experiences.

later in the afternoon you can engage in the sports activities with the community members or have an evening walk around the villages for a coffee tour if you are not interested in visiting the community market.

Evenings are more related with a camp fire as you sip on your favorite Ugandan cold beers and beverages before you go to bed.

Day seven. Social innovation experience and transferring to the airport depending on your departure flight, we can book a day-use or an overnight room at  an eco friendly Guest House in Entebbe. Kindly note that we recommend booking only night flights or overnight in Entebbe to be on the safe side. The drive takes about 1–2 hours.

Important to note when doing chimp tracking

• Hiking shoes are important

• Rain gear/jacket is ideal

• Stay at least 8 meters away from the Chimpanzees

• Smoking, eating and drinking are not permitted during Chimpanzee Tracking

• Avoid flash Photography

• Do not make noise or make sudden movements

• Do not track Chimpanzees when you have illnesses like: Flue, cough and Diarrhoea

• Always stay together in a group

• Human waste should be buried 30cm (12”) deep

• If you must sneeze or cough cover your face and turn away from the Chimpanzees, as they can catch coughs and colds from humans
